Favourite artist.
« on: July 13, 2010, 11:34:50 AM »
I very much like the work of Gustav Klimt  XD You should all like someone the most too? Or a feww favourites :)

Gustav Klimt, like most artists, hated in his time, but loved now. Most of his work is in Vienna (or private collections) which is annoying, so a trip is needed!

I like most of the Femme Fatale paintings... And his gold phase...

"All art is Erotic"
"Whoever wants to know something about me - as an artist which alone is significant - they should look attentively at my pictures and there seek to recognise what I am and what I want. "
"I can paint and draw. I believe this myself and a few other people say that they believe this too. But I'm not certain of whether it's true. "

Clyfford Still inspires me and the paintings are absolutely huge and the paint is extremely thick, like a sculpture on a canvas.

I also enjoy Francis Bacon.

No. I find him underwhelming. But then I find most art underwhelming so maybe I'm not the ideal person to talk.

I love what he's doing and have done for years, but in the last 2 or 3 years, people started to go crazy for him and some idiots just jump the bandwagon.

If it weren't for that episode of david dickinson's real deals yesterday I'd wouldn't know who he is.
But I think based on the artist I named you can tell I'm not interested in graffiti or political statements

I don't really have a favourite artist or know much about art, but here's a few I quite like:

Lagger and Martin, obviously
Francis Bacon
Joe Sorren
Mark Ryden

In the case of the last two, I really like things that are creepy and twisted but also maintain cuteness.

Don't really like Francis Bacon to much, but did quick search of the other two and I like Mark Ryden :) XD

That could also apply to the first two.
