SAGE (Simple Adventure Game Engine)
« on: April 15, 2010, 12:25:19 AM »

SAGE is the adventure game engine I've built over the last week.
I haven't got as many features in as I would like, due to time constraints, but it will get updated once I've finished my other commitments so please feel free to post feature suggestions or glaringly obvious bugs (bearing in mind I've probably noticed them already).

The current feature-set includes:
  • Rooms with interactive items
  • Slightly easier than just using ActionScript
  • Characters with individual inventories
  • Items that disappear whether you want them to or not
  • 4 modes of interaction
  • Revolutionary 'Who Needs Sound Anyway?' audio engine
  • Customisable delay on speech and room changes
  • A boatload of bugs

If you know AS3 and want to make a game in SAGE, you'll find attached the latest version.
Unzip it to a folder of your choice and open up the Test.fla file to see a full example project (as playable below).

See also: This thread gives details and commentary on the development process while SAGE was being written from scratch. Might be of interest.

Here's the demo game running on SAGE v1.0b2:

They're pretty to look at. They're versatile. You can honk them. You can slap them. You can stick your willy in between them. You can bury your head in them. They produce milk, ideal for a post-coital drink. When accompanied with clothes you can stick a pen or other bric-a-brac between them for storage purposes. They're hypnotic. When in the middle of sexytime and they're shaking and bouncing all over the shop, like some sort of beautiful milky ocean or two boob-shaped aeroplanes experiencing major turbulance.

Much appreciated; although in this case it's not a bug, it's just not a feature yet.

the door for the castle disappears after you use it.

Yes, a current 'feature' of the engine is that all room objects disappear once the engine has been told we need to change rooms. If you then call for speech before the change, the objects disappear before the speech is displayed.
